The OCS Courier Waybill

All courier and express cargo shipments require the use of an OCS Courier Waybill (CWB) which will be supplied to you free of charge by your local OCS office. To have CWBs or other shipping supplies delivered to you, please call your local OCS office.

The CWB is a bill of lading and a record of your transaction with OCS. It also acts as a letter of instruction to OCS, by providing the following details.

  • Your customer account number, name and address which identifies you as the owner of the shipment, and the party we can contact if necessary
  • Your department or billing code reference numbers, in case your accounts department requires itemized billing
  • The contents of the shipment (see Commercial Invoice section for help declaring non-document items)
  • Your intent to purchase insurance for the shipment
  • The destination ship-to address
  • Other special instructions

Please call your local OCS office whenever you have special requests, such as 'charge collect', 'hold-for-pick-up', etc.

One CWB should be used for each separate shipment. However, if you are shipping multiple boxes to the same recipient, you only need to attach a CWB to one of the boxes. The additional boxes should be labeled with the recipient address, but it is not necessary that each box have its own CWB. (In the pieces block on the CWB, indicate the total number of boxes in that shipment).

To attach a CWB, peel off the back adhesive strip and affix the CWB to your envelope, package, or box, The OCS driver will sign the CWB and leave one copy for your records.
